Dr Parris Williams is a dedicated researcher whose work sits at the intersection of smoking cessation, behaviour science, tobacco control policy, and health inequalities within respiratory medicine. With a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, her research seeks to understand and address the disproportionate burden of tobacco-induced diseases among underserved populations, contributing to both clinical knowledge and public health strategies.
Her expertise spans the design and evaluation of a clinical randomised controlled trial, embedding smoking cessation into lung cancer screening, analysis of population-level tobacco use trends, and the investigation of systemic factors that drive inequalities. Dr Williams has collaborated with multidisciplinary teams across academic, clinical, and policy settings, bringing a rigorous yet practical approach to complex public health challenges.
Motivated by a vision of equitable healthcare, Dr Williams continues to pursue research that informs effective, inclusive tobacco control measures. She is committed to applying clinical findings into actionable recommendations that can shape policy, improve clinical practice, and ultimately reduce the preventable health burden caused by smoking, particularly among communities that experience the greatest inequalities.
